The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
As we enjoy our holiday, of course it’s so very important to pause and remember the reason for it, and to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to us and our country. The National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, honors the more than 400,000 Americans who did just that. MASH RIGHT HERE to see more pictures of the Memorial.

Less than a year after winning the 1992 Winston Cup Championship with the team he owned, Alan Kulwicki was gone, the victim of a plane crash on his way to the race in Bristol. This pas weekend, nine members of that crew got together to swap stories, and to celebrate the life of the man who gave us the “Polish Victory Lap.” MASH RIGHT HERE to read the whole story
Please understand I’m not making fun of our national Anthem with this post, I think it’s a wonderful song! It can be hard to sing, and in this poor girl’s defense she’s Canadian, so it’s the equivalent of singing the Anthem of a foreign country. That having been said, enjoy one of the most unfortunate performances ever

It would be bad enough to have your mug shot taken. It would be worse if you were having perhaps the worst hair day ever, like this poor fellow! MASH RIGHT HERE to see a few more incredibly bad mug shots
A listener named Lois pointed out to me that Darius Rucker, and the truck driver he hitches a ride with in “Wagon Wheel,” are going the wrong way! The song lyric is, “but he’s a headin’ west from the Cumberland Gap, to Johnson City, Tennessee." The problem with that is Johnson City is EAST of the Cumberland Gap. have no explanation for this, perhaps Bob Dylan was high when he wrote it, or he’s just really bad with directions. If you know why the song it written like this, leave me a message and let me know!
