The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
His name is Charlie Head, and if you love animals, you love him. Charlie is an extreme paddler, he was exhausted and almost at the end of a 600 mile trip in his kayak, (that’s right, he had paddled 600 MILES!) when he saw a little shih tzu puppy that was stranded on some rocks, and was about to be swept away. Charlie paddled over and rescued him! The video isn’t the best because it’s obviously from a helmet-cam, but the whole thing it pretty cool if you ask me!
