- The show starts at 5 a.m., but I don't really wake up until after the second cup of coffee. Tony Wike covers the news you need to know every 30 minutes. I've got the sports page. Timesaver Traffic updates are every 15 minutes during rush hour. In the meantime, we play a lot of really good country music and try to find something to smile about to start the day!

The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
