The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
If you plan to shop on “Black Friday” and you’re a race fan, I might suggest you head to the Charlotte Motor Speedway. They have a bunch of things going on, and you can drive your personal vehicle on the track! Here’s a partial list of what’s happening next Friday
-Open 8am to 4pm
-Drive your personal car on the track for 3 laps, just spend $50 on merchandise or race tickets, or donate $25 to Speedway Children’s Charities
-T-shirts and hats start at just $3, many other items start at just $1
-Souvenir Trailers expected: Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Danica Patrick, Tony Stewart and more
Monday morning I’ll be talking about some other cool events next week at Charlotte with Speedway President Marcus Smith. The National Christmas Tree will stop by on it’s way to Washinton! Hope you’ll join us about 7:40 Monday on WESC
