The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
Blake Shelton made some unfortunate comments about you and I, fans who still appreciate the All Time Favorites of country music. We like Blake too. I think what he was trying to say is that the latest crop of country artists have to see to it that country music continues to evolve. Ray Price was part of the evolution of the genre, “For The Good Times” is one of the greatest country songs of all time, yet there’s not a fiddle or steel guitar in it. I do agree with Blake that he could have said it differently! Mash right here to get all the details
