The first race of the year on WESC is this Saturday night, “The Sprint Unlimited” from Daytona. NASCAR has gone back to the old way of qualifying for the race, only pole winners from the past season and past winners of the race are eligible. That means that Champion Brad Keselowski and runner-up Clint Bowyer will not be competing. Here’s the list of who will be running Saturday night:
2012 Pole Winners:
Greg Biffle, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr., Tony Stewart, AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, Joey Logano, Marcos Ambrose, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya.
Past champions of The Sprint Unlimited:
Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, Bill Elliott, Terry Labonte, Ken Schrader
New this year, NASCAR is letting us, the race fans, decide the format for the race! We can vote on the number of laps in each segment, pit-stop requirements for the end of the first segment, how many cars are eliminated after segment 2, and, believe it or not, which fire suit we want Miss Sprint Cup to wear. Mash right here to exercise your right to vote. And please join us for live coverage Saturday night on Your Racin’ Station!
