The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
David Allen Coe was involved in a scary car crash in Ocala, Florida, early Tuesday morning. Police say Coe ran a red light while driving a 2011 Suburban and hit a semi hauling radishes and corn. The semi flipped on its side and spilled its contents. Coe's road manager, Bruce Smith, says Coe is "doing OK." The semi driver is in serious condition, and a passenger in the semi was treated for injuries and released. Mash right here to see a picture of the vehicle. It really looks like Coe is lucky to be alive!
