The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
DeAndre Hopkins played his high school football at Daniel before going to Clemson and becoming one of the best wide receivers in the nation. He announced in January that he will forego his senior session to enter the NFL draft. But his is a story that reaches far beyond the football field.
