The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
It's been a rough couple of Mondays for Tony Stewart. Stewart, who will race anything anywhere if there's a race, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance last night after flipping a sprint car at South Iowa Speedway. He suffered a broken right leg, underwent surgery, and will not run this Sunday at Watkins Glen. The champ was reported awake and alert. Last monday, Stewart flipped five times at a race in Ontario.
