The upstate is pretty much home. I wasn't born here, but the family moved to Greenville 40 years ago when Dad took a job in the textile business. Went to J. L. Mann High, then saw my daughter graduate from the same school. I started in the radio business after one semester of college, which I found out was too hard. (College, not this!) I was lucky to get started here at WESC 30 years ago, and haven't found anything else I really wanted to do more. And I like the things we have on WESC ... I do like country music, I do like racing, I just don't like getting up at 3 am.
Sometimes you run across something that is so horrifically bad, it’s good. Or at least fun! This is a song by a group called Ylvis titles “What Does The Fox Say.” When I first saw it, I thought is was meant for children like my 2 year old granddaughter. But they really think, apparently, that it’s a great song! I cracked up when I saw the lead singer looking all serious while singing some really dumb lyrics. Watch and enjoy!
Not in real life, in the newest video by Sara Evans! Carl co-stars in Sara’s video for her latest release, “Slow Me Down.” He plays her boyfriend, and she dumps him. Edwards says Sara was nice, down to earth, and that filming the video was a lot of fun. He did say the scenes where they are arguing were difficult to film, and he apologized to her after every take! MASH RIGHT HERE to see the video, which was just released this week
His name is Bashir Sultani, and he’s an artist. One of the most gifted artists I’ve ever seen as a matter of fact. But you’ll probably never see his works of art on a gallery wall, because they are destroyed right after he creates them. He makes his portraits out of ordinary table salt. Enjoy this video, see of you can figure out who he’s “drawing” before he finishes!
Jason Aldean's "Night Train" tour has been huge, playing to sell-out crowds all over the country. That includes more than 66,000 people at Sanford Satdium in Athens, the home of the Georgia Bulldogs. Jason recorded that concert for his DVD titled "Night Train To Georgia." It features 18 of his biggest hits, interviews, and a look backstage at the planning and execution of the show. Here's a little taste for you! And please join me tomorrow at 7:35 when I talk to Jason about it.
Dennis Lalime did. Police say the 64-year-old lost control of his car, then hit a number of trees and rocks. He wasn't hurt, but he was taken to jail and charged with driving under the influence. And that means there’s going to be a mug shot. They don’t let you clean up before the photo is taken, and Lalime went to the party dressed as The Joker from the Batman movies. The result is this epic mugshot!
I was never very talented or creative when it came to carving a jack o’lantern. It was just your basic triangle eyes and nose, and a snaggly tooth grin. My pumpkins NEVER looked like these! MASH RIGHT HERE to see a few more incredible creations
Whenever they race at Talledega, I always think about this race, the Winston 500 on October 15th, 2000. It was Dale Earnhardt’s last win, and arguably his most incredible performance. Earnhardt was in 18th place on a restart with 5 laps left, and somehow managed to make it to the front. They say he could ‘see the wind,’ after this I believed it. Kenny Wallace, Joe Nemechek, Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte rounded out the top five. Enjoy five of the most thrilling laps you’ll ever see
This is what a fortune from a cookie would say if it truly represented real life! MASH RIGHT HERE to see more
I saw a story over the weekend about a bull named Bushwacker. He was a monster, the best cowboys in the world tried him, and he was only ridden once. But he's not the baddest bull I ever saw. That would be Bodacious. He didn't just throw cowboys, he tried to kill them! Enjoy this tribute
