Halloween is one of those....well, it's not really a Holiday, it's....well it's not like Mother's Day or Father's Day. It's certainly not Christmas or the beginning of a New Year....or a celebration of our Country's heritage. It's....well......I'm not sure I know what it is. It's Halloween and it's been around since I was a kid.
As I've gotten older and hopefully wiser, I've decided that Halloween is a good time for families that live in a community to meet their neighbors and neighbors that are strangers meet them and their children and put a smile on a child's face with a piece of candy.
The operative word is Children. I trick or treated as a child, but grew out of it....or was told by my parents that I had grown out of it! Nothing is worse than having teenage kids with no costume roaming your neighborhood looking for candy. It really kills the spirit in my opinion.
Some of my neighbors are really into Halloween and have decorated with lights, cold air inflatables, strobe lights, and special fencing. I hope that if you have age appropriate children that you will consider it great family time in your neighborhood and not sending your kids out unsupervised stepping past that line of "good neighbor."
